Norwich Arts Centre

Norwich Arts Centre hosts an exciting programme of contemporary art exhibitions alongside its evening events, with an emphasis on photography and digital media. Recently this has expanded to include contemporary graphic design and illustration. We also support local filmmakers with our open submission 'Shorts' screenings. Emerging artists form the main part of the exhibition programme, providing valuable professional experience for many recent graduates and postgraduates from NUCA. A few exhibitions each year will include a well-known artist (such as Bruce Lacey, or Steve Bell), who wants to present their work to a new audience. The advantage of the space is that it is fully accessible to the evening crowds, providing an opportunity to involve people who may not have otherwise visited a gallery.

Our education facilities include the only public access darkroom in Norwich and a media lab with up-to-date photography, film and web design software. This is available to the public on a membership basis, and through a range of adult classes and children's workshops. We are also running the Bronze/Silver Arts Award in New Media (photography, web design and filmmaking) for 11-25 year olds, encouraging them to participate in the arts.
